do I update the BIOS on the 88XLP2 To update the BIOS on the 88XLP2 to the newest version, follow this procedure With the system turned off, set switches 1 and 2 under the keyboard to the On position. Download the BIOS update file from the 88XLP2 download page. Run the downloaded executable to extract the files in the archive. Boot up from a system disk. Make certain that no memory manager was loaded. From the directory where the extracted files are located, execute the program. The flash program will start to load the file. After it is loaded, press Enter to start. Make certain that the program is not interrupted for any reason. Restart the computer when prompted Return to top |

does drive B appear in Windows NT 4.0? If you have an internal Iomega Zip Drive installed, you may see a Drive B listed in Explorer, but have trouble accessing it as the Zip drive. To solve this problem, to install the device drivers for the Zip drive, and also setup Iomega NT Tools. The typical drive letter assignment for the Zip drive is D: drive. Download the Zip Drive Device Driver for Windows NT 4.0 from Iomega web site. 1. Extract the files from the zip file. 2. Start Windows NT 4.0. 3. Go to Start Menu / Settings / Control Panel / SCSI Adapter / Drivers. 4. Select Add, and enter (dir)\ide as the file location, where (dir) is the location where the ZIP file was extracted. 5. Enter (dir)\ide again as the location of "imgatapi.sys". 6. Run Setup from the extracted directory to set up Tools for NT 4.0. 7. Reboot the system after Tools has been installed. Return to top |

do I install the 2nd hard disk drive? To install a secondary hard drive, you will need to set the hard drive to be a Slave drive. Refer to the hard drive documentation. After you install the drive into the casing, simply insert the hard drive + casing into the floppy drive bay, and turn on the system. The hard drive will automatically be detected by the BIOS. You may want to disable the floppy drive in the BIOS to prevent the system from searching for the floppy drive. Return to top |

which operating systems can I use the DVD-ROM to play DVD titles? The FutureMate FM88XLP2 DVD-ROM / DVD Software can be used to play DVD titles under Windows 95 and Windows 98. There is no support for DVD under Windows NT 4.0. However, with the correct drivers installed, you are still able to use the DVD-ROM to read data CD and data DVD under all operating systems. does the DVD Movie Pause or Stop and Run? Enabling Power Management in Windows 98/95 effects the operation of DVD movie play back. This is due to constant polling by Advanced Power Management. To obtain the best performance from the DVD/MPEG 2 system, please check the following: 1. In Control Panel / System / Device Manager, click on the + sign next to CD-ROM. 2. Click on the DVD-ROM, and click on Properties / Settings. 3. Check the box labeled DMA. 4. Go back to Control Panel / System / Device Manager / System Devices / Advanced Power 5. Management Support on the properties and disable the support for Advanced Power Management. 6. Make sure, you have installed DirectX 5 or higher. Now the DVD Movie should run without pause. get an invalid country code error when playing my DVD. What can cause
this? One reason may be that you are trying to run a DVD from a region other than the one specified for your particular system. For example, if your software DVD is Region 1 and your DVD is Region 2, it will not run and you will get the error message. Please check your DVD disk and software settings for correct DVD Region.
