Along with the system you may have received either a driver CD or Diskette. Use appropriate media when indicated.
Suspend to Disk Partition (Windows 95/98)
1. Boot up from a bootable DOS disk, then insert the disk labeled Suspend Driver in the floppy drive.
2. From A:\, change directory to A:\suspend.
3. Type 0vmakfil -pXX, where XX is a number greater than amount of system memory megabytes.
    Recommended setting is -p128. (Space for Video memory is allocated automatically.)
4. After partition is created, reboot the system.

Core Logic Driver (Windows 95 only)
1. Insert the utility CD into the CD-ROM drive.
2. Run D:\TXPatch\setup.exe
3. Answer Next/Yes/Next, then click on OK to reboot the system.
4. After rebooting, Windows will detect several new hardware devices. Do not restart Windows until you see the
    Start button and the desktop. It is not necessary to install any additional driver at this time.

AUDIO (Windows98/95)
Windows 95
1. Under Sound, Video and Game Controllers, remove the ESS ES1688 Audiodrive.
2. Under Other Devices, remove the Unknown device.
3. Click on refresh. When asked for a driver location, go to D:\Audio\Win95. Then click Finish. You will need to
    enter D:\audio\win95 again. Windows will also detect ESS 1879 Control Interface.
Windows NT 4.0
1. During boot up, press Ctrl+Alt+S to enter BIOS Setup.
2. Go to Components / Audio, and set Audio port to 220h-22Fh, Midi portaddress to 300h-303h,Audio/Midi IRQ
    to IRQ 10,Playback DMA to DMA1,Record DMA to DMA 3.
3. Start Windows NT, and go to Control Panel / Multimedia / Devices / Add / Unlisted or updated driver.
4. Use Browse to select e:\audio\nt40 and select the ES1879/... driver.
5. Restart Windows.

VIDEO
 Windows 95 / 98
1. Go to Control Panel / Display / Settings / Advanced Properties
2. In the Adapter window, select Change / Have Disk, and browse to D:\Video\win95
3. Select S3 Inc. Virge/MX (Engineering Release)
4. Select the Monitor tab, click on Change, and Select Standard Monitor types/Laptop Display Panel 1024 x 768.
5. Click on Close to return to Settings, and move the desktop area slider to the right to 1024 by 768.
6. Then select Close. Answer Yes to restart Windows 95.
Windows NT 4.0
1. Insert the Utility CD.
2. Go to Control Panel / Display / Settings / Display Type / Change / Have Disk
3. Browse to D:\Video\NT40 and select S3 Incorporated Display Driver v.3.27.08.
4. Answer Yes to proceed, then Yes/Close/Close. Then answer Yes to restart Windows. 5. After Windows has
    restarted, answer OK to confirm that a new driver has been installed, and set the desktop area to 1024x768
    to fill the screen.
6. You can either select Test to test the new resolution, or just select Apply and OK to use the new settings.

PCMCIA
Windows 95
1. Under PCMCIA Socket, remove PCIC or Compatible PCMCIA Controller.
2. Under Other devices, select one of the PCI Cardbus Bridge, and select Properties/Driver/Update Driver.
3. Copy the patch files (from the utility CD \pcmcia\win95 directory of downloaded here)  to their correct
    locations (cbss.vxd and pccard.vxd to c:\windows\system, pcmcia.inf to c:\windows\inf)
4. Click on No to select Driver from List. You will see Texas Instrument PCI - 1220 Cardbus Controller.
5. Click on Finish. You will be asked to insert the Windows CD.
Windows NT 4.0
Please note that there are no PCMCIA controller drivers for Windows NT 4.0, and no such driver should be installed.
1. Insert the modem or network card(s) before boot up.
To install Network:
1. Go to Control Panel, and click on Network. Then answer yes to start installing Networking.
2. Follow on-screen instructions. When it asks for Network Adapter, select Start Search. If it doesn't find the
    network card, go to Select from List, and click on Have Disk.
3. After confirming Protocol and Clients, restart Windows NT.
To install Modem:
1. Make sure that audio settings in the BIOS are set to 220-22F, 300-303h, IRQ 10, DMA  1/3.
2. Go Control Panel, and click on Ports. If there is not a COM3, add it manually. Make certain that you are
    using COM 3, I/O 3E8, IRQ 5. Reboot the system if the port is added.
3. In Control Panel, select Modem, and select Add. The Install New Modem screen will appear.
4. Select Next to allow Windows to search for new modem. It should first search for a Modem on COM 3, and
    finds and queries the modem you inserted.
5. Windows will normally find the modem as a Standard Modem. You can then select Change to select from a
    list of modems, or to insert a Modem driver disk click on Have Disk.
6. After files are copied, click on Finish, then you can start using the modem.

DVD/MPEG2
Windows 95
1. Be sure to use the Video & Audio driver for MPEG II diskette to update the Audio and Video drivers. Follow
    the steps listed on this page for Audio and for Video. The location of the files are a:\video and a:\audio.
2. Go to Control Panel / System / Device Manager.
3. Look for a PCI Multimedia Device under Other devices.
4. Change driver for PCI Multimedia device, using the MPEG Code 1 Diskette.
5. Run Setup from the DVD Player diskette to install the Realmagic DVD Player.
6. Install DirectX5 or higher. (You can download it from Microsoft.)
Windows 98
1. Be sure to use the Video & Audio driver for MPEG II diskette to update the Audio and Video drivers. Follow

2. Go to Control Panel / System / Device Manager.

Universal Serial Bus
Windows95B
1. Insert the Windows 95B CD.
2. Run D:\Other\USB\usbsupp.exe, and reboot the system when prompted.
Windows95C
1. Insert the Windows 95C CD-ROM.
2. Run D:\other\updates\usb\usbsupp.exe, and reboot the system when prompted.
3. When Windows has restarted, run D:\other\updates\usb\usbupd2.exe.
4. You will not be prompted to restart, but you need to restart the computer.

Video Capture Drivers
Windows 95(B/C)
1. With the Utility CD in the CD-ROM Drive, run D:\capture\Setup.exe
2. S3 Live Video will start. After files are copied, restart Windows.
3. Run D:\swvideo\swvdo85m.exe, and you will be prompted to turn on your video capture device.
