Why
doesn't the audio system start automatically in Windows 95?
If,
after you installed audio drivers, you do not hear anything when Windows
95 is starting, you will need to adjust the audio settings manually.
1. Go to Control Panel / System / Device Manager.
2. Click on the + sign next to Sound, Video, and Game Controllers,
and click on ESS 1878 Plug and Play Audio
Drive.
3. Click on Properties / Resources.
4. Clear the box next to Use Automatic Settings.
5. In Resource Settings, look for a Resource Type of Direct Memory
Access, the setting for which should be 0.
6. Click on the word Direct Memory Access, and click on Change Settings.
7. Change the value to 1 for Direct Memory Access.
8. Click on OK three times to confirm the settings.

Why
does Windows NT tell me that there is a file missing during Audio
Driver Installation?
Make certain that you have the following settings in the BIOS before
you try to install the device driver.
1. Onboard Audio Base Port : 220h
2. Onboard MIDI Port : Disabled
3. 1st Audio DMA Channel : DMA #1
4. 2nd Audio DMA Channel : DMA #1
5. IRQ Select : IRQ 7

What's new in the latest BIOS Update?
The
newest BIOS versions for FM7300XL is version 2.04..
Version:R2.04 Date:March 6, 1998
This version has been released to fix the following problem:
1. The secondary HDD may not be detected with Panasonic CD-ROM is
installed.
Version:R2.03 Date:November 27, 1997
1. After the USB driver is installed, system hangs when resuming
from suspend mode.
2. Add a "PC Card Speaker" option into SCU for selecting
to Enable/Disable PC modem card's tone.
Version:R2.01 Date:November 11, 1997
The .wav displays abnormally after resume-from-disk.
1. The 1.44 floppy disk cannot be accessed after 3-mode floppy disk
is used.

This version has been released with the following changes:
1. The support for the updated ESS 1739 audio chipset has been added.
Note: If your 7300XL is fitted with the ESS 1879 audio chipset,
you must run the "RUN1879.EXE" file before running the

5. Distortion when playing 16-bit sound in Windows NT 4.0.
6. Start bar in Windows 95 disappears when switching between LCD
and TV.
7. System hangs when EMM386 is loaded with UMB, and Fn+F2 or
Fn+F6 is pressed.
8. Windows 95 true color mode shows garbage in Winbench.
9. Default settings in BIOS setup are modified for (Peripheral)
TV Mode, (Power Management) Auto Doze Mode
CPU Clock, Auto Doze Mode Time Out, and
Suspend Time Out.

How
do I update the BIOS on the FM7300XL?
To update the BIOS on the FM7300XLto the newest version, follow this
procedure:
1. With the system turned off, set switches 1 and 2 under the
keyboard to the On position.
2. Download the BIOS update file from the FM7300XL
download page.
3. Run the downloaded executable to extract the files in the archive.
4. Boot up from a system disk. Make certain that no memory manager
was loaded.
5. From the directory where the extracted files are located, execute
the program.
6. The flash program will start to load the file. After it is loaded,
press Enter to start.
7. Make certain that the program is not interrupted for any reason.
Restart the computer when prompted

How
do I set up the FM7300XL to support a second hard disk?
To use a second hard disk on the FM7300XL, you must purchase the optional
second hard drive case. You must set the jumpers on the second hard
drive to be a slave drive. The BIOS will automatically detect the
existence of a second hard disk

How
do I set up the FM7300XL to boot up from a second hard disk?
To boot up from the second hard disk, you must follow the instructions
above to install the 2nd hard disk. You must
also set the boot partition on the second hard disk to be an active
partition. Then you have the option in the BIOS to select 1st Boot
Device to be either IDE 0 or IDE 1 in the Advanced menu.

How do I configure PCMCIA devices in Windows NT?
The following are the recommended settings for using PCMCIA Ethernet
and Fax Modem.
1. Sound Card : I/O 220h, IRQ 7 (which is the same as the Paralle
Port, and must be set in the BIOS)
2. Fax Modem : COM 3, IRQ 5.
3. Ethernet Card : I/O 300h, IRQ 9.

or with Windows 95 rebooting automatically, please download the updated
CBSS.VXD file from the PCMCIA section of FM7300XL FTP download page,
and copy it to the Windows\System directory.
