Along
with the system you may have received either a driver CD or Diskette.
Use appropriate media when indicated.
|
|
Suspend
to Disk Partition (Windows 95/98)
1.
Boot up from a bootable DOS disk, then insert the disk labeled Suspend
Driver in the floppy drive.
2. From A:\, change directory to A:\suspend.
3. Type 0vmakfil -pXX, where XX is a number greater than amount of
system memory megabytes.
Recommended setting is -p128. (Space for Video
memory is allocated automatically.)
4. After partition is created, reboot the system.

Core
Logic Driver for Intel Chipset (Windows 95 only)
1.
Insert the utility CD into the CD-ROM drive.
2. Insert the Utility CD.
3. Run Setup.EXE under \patch on the utility CD-ROM, and Click on
Next.
4. View the License Agreement and select File/Exit to close Notepad,
and click yes if you agree to continue.
5. Click Next to update the Intel® 82371xB.Inf file, then click OK
to reboot the computer.

AUDIO
(Windows98/95)
At the Windows Desktop Go to Start Settings Control PanelSystem
Click Device Manager tab.
Expand Other Devices folder and open the device PCI Multimedia Audio
Device
Open Driver tab and click on update driver
Click Next
Click Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location
Highlight Sound, Video and Game Controllers and click Next
Click Have Disk
Click "Browse"
Insert the driver CD that came was shipped with the system into the
CDROM under Drives select the CDROM Drive (d:) and open the "Audio"
folder.
Open "win9x" folder.
The file "maestro.inf" should appear under the file name window.
Click "Ok in the open Window
Click OK in the install from disk Window
The adapter "ESS Device Manager" appears,
Click "Ok" in the Select Device Window and Next in the following Window
You may be asked to insert the Windows 95/98 Disk,
When prompted for the Windows (98/95) CD-ROM disc please remove the
Driver CD and replace it with the Windows98/95 CD, click "Ok".
Specify the correct path and folder for the files to be copied. The
file should be copied from "D:\win98" (or D:\win95).
Click "Ok
You will be asked to reinsert the driver CD and point to the cd-drive\audio\win9x
folder again to copy some more files (where cd-drive corresponds to
drive letter d:)
Windows
95 (B/C) & 98 for FM11XLP2 with S3-Virge MX Video Chipset
1.
Run D:\audio\win95\setup.
2. Follow all instructions on screen to complete setup.
Windows
NT 4.0 for FM11XLP2 for Both Models
1.
Insert utility CD in the CD-ROM
2. Go to start / setting / control panel /multimedia /devices / add.
3. Chose Unlisted or updated Driver, click O.K
4. Browse to D:\audio\nt40, click O.K.
5. Windows will find ESS Maestro PCI Driver, click O.K.
6. Windows will now tell you that the audio driver was installed successfully
and to restart the computer.

VIDEO
Windows
95 / 98 for FM11XLP2 with ATI AGP VIDEO
At
the Windows Desktop Go to Start Settings Control PanelDisplay
Click "Settings" tab.
Click "Advanced Properties".
Click Adapter tab and then click "Change".
Click Next
Select Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location and
then click Next
Click "Have Disk".
Click "Browse".
Insert the driver CD that came was shipped with the system into the
CDROM
under Drives select the CDROM Drive (d:) and open the "Video"
folder.
Double-click "win9x" folder.
The file "macxw4.inf" should appear under the file name
window.
Click "Ok in the open Window
Click OK in the install from disk Window
The adapter name "Rage LT PROAGP2X" should appear in the
Select Device window.
Click "Ok" and Next to start copying files and Finish.
Apply the changes and restart for the new driver to be loaded.
Go back to the Advanced Display Properties window and click "Monitor"
tab.
Click "Change".
Select "Laptop Display Panel (1024X768)" click "Ok".
Click "Apply" and then click "Ok".
Change the screen area or Desktop Area to 1024x768 pixel by sliding
the pointer
Change Color Palette to High Color (16bit).
Click "Apply".
Click "Yes" to restart the system.
Windows
95 / 98 for FM11XLP2 with S3-Virge MX Video Chipset
1.
Insert the Utility CD.
2. Start Control Panel, and select Display / Settings / Advanced Properties
/ Change / Have Disk.
3. Use Browse to locate the VGA driver from the utility CD under D:\VIDEO\Win95,
and click OK.
4. Click OK twice to confirm Install From Disk and Select Device.
5. Click On Monitor / Change / Show All Devices
6. Chose Laptop Display Panel (1024x768), Then click on apply, O.K
Twice to go back to display properties.
7. Slide the desktop area all the way to 1024x768 then click apply
again, then reboot the computer.
Windows NT 4.0 for FM11XLP2 with S3-Virge
MX Video Chipset
1. Insert the Utility CD.
2. Start Control Panel, and select Display / Setting / Display Type
/ Change / Have Disk.
3. Browse to located the VGA driver from the utility CD under D:\video\NT40,
and click O.K.
4. The S3 Incorporated Display Drivers V3.27.08 Generic driver will
be found. Click O.K and yes to proceed.
5. After some files are copied, setup will tell you driver install
successfully click O.K. then reboot the computer.
6. After reboot it will tell you that the VGA driver install successfully.
Move the bar in Desktop Area to 1024x768
(XGA) or 800x600 (SVGA) and click on Apply
and keep the setting.
Windows NT 4.0 for FM11XLP2
with ATI Rage LT-Pro Video Chipset
1. RUN Service Pack 4 or above before installing ATI Video
driver for Windows NT 4.0
2. Insert the Utility CD
3. Start Control Panel, and select Display / Setting / Display Type
/ Change / Have Disk
4. Browse to located the VGA driver from the utility CD under D:\video\NT40,
and click O.K.
5. The ATI RAGE LT PRO Display Drivers will be found. Click
O.K and yes to proceed.
6. After some files are copied, setup will tell you driver install
successfully click O.K. then reboot the computer.
7. After reboot it will tell you that the VGA driver install successfully.
Move the bar in Desktop Area to 1024x768
(XGA) or 800x600 (SVGA) and click on Apply
and keep the setting.

PCMCIA
(Windows98)
Windows
95 (B/C)
1. Remove all PC Cards physically from the socket.
2. Go to control panel / System / Devices manager / Other device
3. Click on one of the PCI CardBus Bridge, then click on Properties
/ Driver / Update Driver.
4. Click No and it will find Texas Instrument PCI-1220 CardBus Controller.
5. Repeat the above steps for the other PCI CardBus Bridge
6. Under PCMCIA socket click PCIC or Compatible PCMCIA controller,
click on properties, then uncheck the
disable in this hardware profile. Click No
twice and reboot the computer.
Windows
NT 4.0
1.
Insert the modem or network card(s) before boot up.
To install Network:
1. Go to Control Panel, and click on Network. Then answer yes to start
installing Networking.
2. Follow on-screen instructions. When it asks for Network Adapter,
select Start Search. If it doesn't find the
network card, go to Select from List, and
click on Have Disk.
3. After confirming Protocol and Clients, restart Windows NT.
To install Modem:
1. Go Control Panel, and click on Ports. If there is not a COM3, add
it manually. Make certain that you are
using COM 3, I/O 3E8, IRQ 5. Reboot the system
if the port is added.
2. In Control Panel, select Modem, and select Add. The Install New
Modem screen will appear.
3. Select Next to allow Windows to search for new modem. It should
first search for a Modem on COM 3, and
finds and queries the modem you inserted.
4. Windows will normally find the modem as a Standard Modem. You can
then select Change to select from a
list of modems, or to insert a Modem driver
disk click on Have Disk.
5. After files are copied, click on Finish, then you can start using
the modem.

Capture Drivers
Windows
95(B/C) & 98 for FM11XLP2 for ATI Video Chipset
Install Driver CD and RUN D:\ATI\VIDEOIN PLAYER SETUP
Windows 95(B/C) & 98 for FM11XLP2 for S3-Virge MX Video Chipset
1. With the Utility CD in the CD-ROM Drive, run D:\videoin\setup
2. S3 Live Video will start. After files are copied, restart Windows.
3. Run D:\swvideo\swvdo11m.exe, and you will be prompted to turn on
your video capture device.

Universal
Serial Bus
Windows95 only
1. Insert the Windows 95 OSR2.x CD with USB Support.
2. Start Control Panel, and click on System / Device Manager / Other
Devices, and remove PCI Universal Serial
Bus.
3. Run D:\Other\Updates\USB\USBSUPP.EXE.
4. After you click Yes to accept the License Agreement, files will
be copied. Restart the computer when finished.
5.
Windows will find the Universal Serial Bus Controller, and New Hardware
Found wizard will start.
6. When asked to insert the Windows 95 CD-ROM or the location of uhcd.sys,
type in C:\Windows\System as
the path.
7. Allow Windows to find USB Root Hub and Universal Host Controller.
